The Art of Cooking
I have come to find out that cooking is in fact an art that anyone can do. You have heard about really bad cooks that cannot even get close to a kitchen without causing a disaster, well, my theory is you can be as good as you want to be, and make delicious food while having fun. Try some of these tips and be the best cook you can be. (Your loved ones will appreciate it).
Choose an easy meal
Don't overcomplicate things. If you are just starting I suggest skipping baking, frying, and anything that requires you to be in the kitchen for more than one hour and half. Start with a simple stew, the process is very simple, chopped some vegetables and meat, throw them in the pot one by one, allowing time to cook or brown up, season the food (Try not to over season either, just a few dashes of the main ingredients, like: Salt, Pepper, Cumin, Paprika and Garlic is good enough). Let your stew sit and slow cook, keep it hydrated (Use chicken or beef stock to add extra flavor), keep an eye on it, stir occasionally and VoilĂ ! You will have a delicious first meal. Accompany with rice (Use a rice maker), bread or salads.
Don't be nervous, relax...
This is just cooking, if something doesn't go according to plans, well you'll get another chance at it. You do have to eat every day. Don't pressure yourself to do a perfect job, take this time to learn as you go, treat this meal preparation as a daily task you actually enjoy doing. Bring your hubby in it too! I love cooking with my husband; we talk about anything, it is great quality time.
Want to make it extra fun?
Make yourself a cocktail; pour a glass of wine (Recommend for dinner time). This should keep you coming to the kitchen more often.Just putting the effort into cooking means a lot to your family, they will appreciate you feeding them, and they will love you even more when the results are awesome! You can do it, the main secret is to start easy.
